Trip Overview
This program offers unique educational insights into the fresh water ecology of Florida through a variety of powerful experiences.

The highlight is an opportunity to snorkel among the manatees. These are great creatures: in length (over 12 feet), in girth (over 7 feet around their middle), and demeanor: so huge and yet so gentle.

In addition to manatees, there are other excellent fresh water snorkeling environments close by; complete with gar, pickerel, perch, abundant turtles and water fowl delightfully scampering underwater through the grasses, and very clear water. The snorkeling experiences are complemented by visits to excellent interpretive facilities including the new Florida Aquarium in Tampa, the Homosassa Springs State Park, and guest speakers. Snorkeling venues are safe, shallow, predictable, and controlled.

Skill Level

This program will be enjoyed by all snorkelers, from novice to expert. Our tour leaders will gladly provide any needed snorkeling instruction, from floating to freediving. Our snorkeling excursions are in calm, protected waters.

Trip Limit

The Snorkeling with Manatees tour is limited to 24 participants, with a minimum of 12. Due to the limited space available for this tour, reservations for space will be accepted in the order deposits are received.

Weather

During November, temperatures should range from the 80's in the daytime to the 60's at night. However, weather can be unpredictable. Rain and winds are always possible so please be prepared for any weather conditions.

A Note About Snorkeling

Water temperatures are expected to be a cool 72-74 degrees Fahrenheit. Thermal tolerance obviously varies with each individual, but we strongly encourage you to use a wetsuit (rentals available).

Financial Information

The cost of the Snorkel with the Manatees tour is $TBA per person, based on double occupancy. For those requesting a single room an additional supplement of $TBA will be added to the tour cost. Please be advised that single space is limited and subject to availability.
