Remote Reefs of Roatan March 17 - 25, 2001
This page is a photographic impression of our trip last March to one of the Bay Islands of Honduras: Roatan. The program also included a two day excursion to mainland Honduras and the Mayan Ruins of Copan.
The main goal on all Sea for Yourself programs is to snorkel on shallow, protected reefs. All particpants enjoyed the outings by boat and the excellent snorkeling in front of Cocoview resort: easy access from the beach to the seagrass beds in the shallows and the reefs with elkhorn coral and lettuce coral closer to the vertical drop-off.
There were plenty of other activities besides snorkeling. Kayaking, sightseeing on the island, a visit to the iguana sanctuary and the bird park and a chance for everybody to shake hands, or flippers, with a dolphin. Or even get a goodbye kiss before moving on to mainland Honduras.
	The activities on mainland Honduras included a visit to a coffee cooperative, a visit to the archeological museum in Copan, a guided tour of the Mayan ruins and a visit to the Sculpture museum.
