Exploring Bonaire

Family Snorkeling
July 9-16, 2005

Here are some pictures from our latest trip to the island of Bonaire, part of the Dutch ABC-Islands in the southern Caribbean.

After almost 25 years of protection by the Bonaire Marine Park, the Bonairians and visiting divers and snorkelers, the fish on Bonaire are really very friendly. A true fish lovers paradise.

On the dock at Buddy Dive, our group gets ready for an afternoon boat snorkel.

Moogie and his son Nick enjoy an aquatic moment together.

A little island party sets the mood for a family portrait.

Our group takes a collective moment to appreciate the inside of an interesting cave.

Happy family members enjoy a festive afternoon on Bonaire.

Lighthouses have played an important role in the history of Bonaire.

Of course we also explored the rest of the island with tours to Rincon, Goto Meer, the Saltworks, Slavehuts, Lighthouse and the old caves with indian paintings.

Captain Don, diving pioneer and the first to start marine conservation on the island welcomed us at his own ranch for some interesting discussions and refreshments.
